Golfing in the skyways.....

A couple pics from Friday's 2nd annual Skyway Open, an 18 hole minigolf course designed by terrific architects and setup on platforms, as shown, in downtown Minneapolis. The event benefits the Boys and Girls Club.

An added bonus! Friday was also the kickoff to the weekend-long MBOTMA Winter Bluegrass Festival in Plymouth, MN. As D&C are new members of MBOTMA we were excited to partake in enjoying the jamming, in legal areas only, and highlight performances including a group from Madison, Wisconsin. Here's a neat review from Citypages.

Jazz on the Prairie Big Band

See enclosure for details on this swingin' concert, featuring music by Stan Kenton, Gordon Goodwin, and a great chart by Bill Holman---a salute to Woody Herman called "Woodrow."

...under the direction of Don Bates (who also conducts the Hopkins Westwind Concert Band);

March 25th, 3PM

Eden Prairie High School Theater.

Bluegrass for the soul

This weekend is MBOTMA's annual Winter Bluegrass Festival!

Jugbands and Bluegrass

Last weekend was the 25th Annual Battle of the Jug Bands at the Cabooze. The winner brings home a waffle iron trophy! The event started in 1980 (has not run every year) and drew participation this year from as far as Chicago, IL, and Iowa City, IA. Here are a couple photos from last year, to help you imagine the insanity that accompanies a large packed house that mass consumes Miller Lites from 1-8 on an ice cold Sunday afternoon.

Next up: MBOTMA's Annual Winter Bluegrass Festival.
